Places of presence

The work of Scalabrini, for his charisma and his originality, expanded rapidly, the Missionary Sisters multiplied and their mission was opened to other lands to testify the Father's love through various services, sometimes carried out in collaboration with the migrants themselves.

They mission is the evangelical, missionary service to migrants, mainly to the poorest and neediest. The Congregation spread initially in Brazil and then in Europe (1936), North America (1941) and, in recent decades, in other countries of Latin America, Asia and Africa. Today it is present in 26 countries and has about 800 sisters and 159 communities. The Sisters live their option of life for Jesus Christ according to the Scalabrinian charism, they practice fraternal life in the community as an important part of religious consecration and strengthen their fidelity to the vocation through prayer, meditation on the Word of God, the Eucharist, sources of communion with God and with brothers, especially the most needy migrants.

The European Province of the Congregation is dedicated to St. Joseph and carries out its work in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Portugal, Albania and Congo.

Faithful to the charisma and attentive to the challenges of mobility, the Congregation welcomes the proposal of the Church to put itself at the service of those who are involved in mobility, and to be "a sign of the tenderness of God and particular witness of the mystery of the Church which is virgin, bride and mother " (V.C. 57) in accordance with the words of the Gospel: "I was a stranger and you welcomed me" (Mt. 25.35).
